A Question About Masks

Surgical masks have been worn by health professionals, to protect against cross contamination of Blood-borne viruses, not Respiratory viruses. Having worked as a microbiologist, or a dentist, throughout my professional career, I am very familiar with wearing a disposable surgical mask. I wore one to minimize the cross contamination of body fluids or tissues. This has been a concern due to blood-borne viruses. Some people ask, "If masks don't work, then why do medical personel wear them?" Blood-borne viruses (BBVs) are transmitted by blood, or other body fluids containing virus. This happens when the blood or fluids enter into the body, or onto the mucosa of a susceptible person. I had never wore a mask, with the intention of minimizing respiratory viral infections, because they have been proven to be ineffective against respiratory viruses. Viral respiratory infections (VRIs) include colds, the flu and bronchiolitis. Respiratory means something that affects the lungs and airways (breathing passages). VRIs may cause coughing, sneezing, runny noses, sore throats or fever in a healthy patient, and more serious complications in patients with a weak immune system or co-morbidities. Coronavirus is a respiratory virus. Ben Swann does a thorough literature review on scientific data, which supports this conclusion @ https://www.bitchute.com/video/i4v8CXgjkEIU/

My Soul’s Body, Is God

The last paragraph of Book 19 of St. Augustine’s "City of God", struck me as it summed-up the need to belong to the City of God.  But, on the other hand, they who do not belong to this city of God shall inherit eternal misery, which is also called the second death, because the soul shall then be separated from God its life, and therefore cannot be said to live, and the body shall be subjected to eternal pains. And consequently this second death shall be the more severe, because no death shall terminate it.”

The analogy of my soul leaving my body at natural death, to this second death, where the soul then pulls-away from God, as if, He is my soul’s true body: “Wow!”  I have presumed to take comfort, that when the pains of our first death cease, we will have “passed-over”, like they read at funerals, “where there are no more tears... “ But Augustine says the second death will be more severe.  I need to nurture and appreciate this sympatico existence between God and my soul, before I experience natural death.  I have to come to terms with; God needs to be my soul’s body.

I had heard the term, “second death”, but I was not really familiar with the concept. So, I searched its source in Revelations. Rev 20 12-15 “... and the dead were judged by those things which were written in the books, according to their works. [13] And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and hell gave up their dead that were in them; and they were judged every one according to their works. [14] And hell and death were cast into the pool of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the pool of fire.”

Now, modernist theology seems to have little need for a “second death”, and I had never thought of how this eternal torment could take place after the soul had left the natural body.  The next to the last sentence in the book however, clearly describes the eternal torment, But in the world to come the pain continues that it may torment, and the nature endures that it may be sensible of it; and neither ceases to exist, lest punishment also should cease.”  I really don’t see how we as Catholics can have a reasonable hope that all men are saved, unless of course, they are in the City of God.

Upside Down

Thirty-seven years ago when I graduated from Dental School, I was excited about my new profession, which seemed to blend health care, artsy techniques, and business skills.  Every exam we took in the four year program, had a banner at the top stating: “Dentistry is an exacting profession ....”, and it has been.  The training seemed to create an atmosphere of experiencing our own anxiety, which culminated in a three day practical “Board” exam, taken amidst an army of North East Regional Board dentists, wandering through the clinic in gold blazers.

Things change with time.  Over the years, I often have found myself confiding to patients, “Performing the actual treatment, is not as difficult, as dealing with the patient’s anxiety.”   Extracting a tooth, taking an impression, doing a difficult restoration can all take more time, and become more difficult to complete, when the patient is fearful.  They sometimes subconsciously constrict their lips, thrust their tongue, or even pass-out.  Luckily, most patients learn to relax after the first few appointments.

Things change with time.  Since we resumed our schedule since the “lockdown”, I noticed a difference in my patients anxiety in my office.  When they sit in my dental chair and remove their mask, they relax and smile,  After unloading their frustrations on this imposed isolation, they seem to melt in the chair as I examine their teeth and mouth, all the while I am touching their oral cavity with my gloved hand.  They seem to unconsciously hunger for human contact.

Things change with time, but this is upside down.

Bob is gone, the first of ten. RIP

To me, Bob was a caring, smart, big brother, who knew about contentment.

I bonded with Bob: waking to his inquisitive stare, “Who wet this bed?”
A built-in playmate:  I begged him to be a bronco for me, and he did.  He bucked me, flying head first, across the basement. (I only asked once),   Our worlds started diverging as he went off to Loyola High School, adding over two hours of travel-time each day from my big brother.  His preference for light laughter, rather than a heated argument, may have saved us both, when CJ took us in the back yard, with twitching biceps, after our first and only, fantastic, unscheduled, Ocean City extension.  We kinda grew apart, as he and I had our own families.  At larger family gatherings, he never shied away from an opportunity to speak.  He fought off a slight stutter, but you wouldn’t know it, when he recited Corinthians 13 to a full church, at Mom & C. J.’s anniversary service.
Later in years, he thankfully tweaked my conscious.  With that same, “Who wet the bed” look. He  simply mentioned a “competitiveness between us”.  I didn’t sense it; we took different paths?  Could it be?  Could it be my adolescent mantra: “Mom liked him best”!  It made me deal with this coping block, concluding:  Even if, why not?  Moms are human too!  This realization allowed me to love Mom, more, and more.  Thanks Bob!
I admired his enduring giving of his time, by contently visiting family members, when they became immobile, or confined to home. Bob seemed content!

Philippians 4: [11] I speak not as it were for want. For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, to be content therewith. [12] I know both how to be brought low, and I know how to abound: (everywhere, and in all things I am instructed) both to be full, and to be hungry; both to abound, and to suffer need.

RT America: SOS

For the past nine months we have become quite the RT News fans.  We originally found them on You Tube, then on the Pluto channel, where we could watch them live.  We especially found, "The News with Rick Sanchez" to be unique, as they seemingly presented a news alternative, that was not agenda-driven as the Main Stream Media.  They coined their fresh, somewhat unbiased, approach with the catch phrase, "It's Time to do News Again!"

RT is constantly critiquing the major networks, thereby virtue-signaling their sole persistence to journalistic excellence.  Their two main criticisms are context and crickets.  Stories that are presented to convince the viewer, without providing the full "Context" of the issue, isn't real news.  And they rightfully criticize the selective ignoring of an issue, that has apparent news worthiness: no coverage.  All you hear...."Crickets".  Rick Sanchez even presented, a few months ago, at the Ron Paul Liberty Report's D.C. Conference, we attended.  He was good.

At the beginning of each show, RT presents three questions which they think the viewers will be asking, after they watch Rick and his guests "drill down" on various topics.  Well, we have three questions we believe our readers may ask, after we do our own drilling.
  1. Does RT America have its own agenda?
  2. "Is RT anti-Catholic?
  3.  Is RT America anti-Pro-Life?
A couple months ago, Rick decided to "drill down" on celibacy in the Catholic Church.  His guest was some defrocked ex-Catholic Priest, supported by Rick's admitted "Catholic" misunderstanding of the need for celibacy.  "Context?"  After their hit-piece, I tried to contact their offices via Facebook,  to suggest several good  competent sources to present the real value in priestly celibacy:  No response.

This past Friday, "The March for Life" paraded several hundred thousand marchers, just a few blocks over from RT America's Washington Headquarters.  That evening, Rick went on for several minutes about the hundred thousand, that demonstrated in Iraq, to demand that the U.S. leave iraq.  This was a good story.  But, why wouldn't a crowd of three to five times as many, as a President of the United States, with all his security, for the first time in the March's forty-five year history, address this annual crowd "in person", not merit coverage?  "Crickets!"

My wife complained on their You Tube channel: No response.

RT America: "It's time to do the "Same Old Shit" again."

Don’t Get on the Truck!

I went to a hardware store today, and while I waited for my items, I started a conversation with the owner.  I live in one of the more conservative counties in Maryland, Frederick County, so I touched upon our second amendment.  I mentioned that talk of anti-gun legislation has gotten the attention of law abiding citizens in several states, and after rumored reports of the Virginia Governor’s plans to confiscate guns with UN troops or the National Guard, over 20 counties and towns in Virginia have declared themselves Second Amendment Sanctuary Cities.  His opinion, simply put was: “Assault weapons are unnecessary for non government personnel”, but “If they take our gun rights, there will be a war.”  Really?  The disturbingly strange thing is, about 6 years ago, I got almost the exact conclusion from another business owner in our County:  Assault rifles bad, but don’t take our guns.

Many compassionate conservatives fail to see the flaw in this logic.  If you give them, or allow them to take, your AR, what are you going to use to stop them when they come to take your 22, 38 or BB gun?  If there is to be a war after surrendering the semi-automatic rifles, my money is on the government guns.

I have twice had the pleasure of being with Sheriff Richard Mack, outspoken champion for our second amendment rights.  This man took the gun-grabbers to the Supreme Court, and won.  Our second meeting involved us giving him an hour ride, to the airport.  He talked most of the ride and he left us with this advice: “What ever you do, never, ever ,give up your guns!”

If we do lose our second amendment, at least keep one.  After watching “Missing”, based on a true story of a missing American in Chile, during our CIA sponsored coupe.  This missing young man’s father, and wife, were systematically dragged through multiple bureaucratic roadblocks, only to find his body rotting in the basement of a stadium with a bullet in his head.  The last time he was seen, was when they rounded him up, and put him in the back of a truck.  Therefore: “Don’t get on the truck!”

Coming Soon!

I just finished an Advent retreat, but for some unknown reason, my mind keeps coming back to an old friend, Neal.  About twenty years ago, I became friends with a Shri Lankan 7-11 employee, who was a distant relative of the owner: kind of an indentured servant.  He  was working in the States to make money for his kids’ education, back home with his wife.  He was torn, but he was here for them.  He also knew that I was looking forward to that seasonal, long awaited, Pumpkin Spice coffee.  Every time I would go to 7-11 to get my coffee, he would smile, and melodically announce loudly, with his “Indian” accent, “Coming Soon!”  “Coming Soon!”

Can you feel it coming?  As a Christian do you sense the increasing anti-Christian culture?  As a fiscally responsible citizen, can you sense the hopeless inability of the FED to print fiat money, to inflate our currency, fast enough to keep-up with our virtual debt?  As a peace loving American, are you sensing the inability of anyone in government, to stop the nuclear saber-rattling war machine, that dominates both political parties?  Is it, “Coming Soon”?  Is He, coming soon?

For me, I would say, "yes"!  Maybe not the end times, but as Psalm 90  states, “Seventy is the sum of our years, or eighty if we are strong,..”  So either way, as I zoom through my 69th year, Christ is coming to me, soon.

If it is the end times, Luke says, “When these things begin to happen, stand erect and hold your head high, for your deliverance is near at hand.”  Lk 21;28.  And if its not, Jesus instructed the delivered man, formerly possessed by "Legion", “Go home to your family and make it clear to them how much the Lord in his mercy has done for you.” Mark 5:19

Well, here goes!  Prayer, and the grace provided by Jesus Christ, has helped me overcome: an addiction to porn, an affinity to “Mary Jane”, a social crutch of alcohol, a scrapping and reordering of moral norms, and more..  In His mercy, He has given me four children, eleven grandchildren, a beautiful wife who loves me, and a Church that continues to provide a channel for grace, reverence, and a refuge.

“......Happy are all who take refuge in Him.” Psalm 2

Red Flagged in Her Late Eighties

I ran into an old friend and he was upset because his mom was "Red Flagged".  Knowing his mom, I was shocked, because I just couldn't see this almost 90 year old, packing.  It was evidently a traffic "red flag".  If an elderly person gives the police any indication that they were confused, they can be "red flagged": their license is revoked, and they get a hearing.

Then he proceeds to tell me about his new job with some huge intelligence firm; the one that Snowden worked for.  I immediately volunteered that Snowden is one of my heroes!  To which he stated his opinion, "He should get a bullet!"  "He took an oath!"

Well, old friends are just that: "old friends".  How about the Constitution?  Maybe we should be required to report to the DMV to take a biannual oath to the Constitution, as we are surrendering our 4th amendment: submitting our biometrics, and our personal information to the world elites data base?  If we can get a red flag for owning a gun, or operating a vehicle, then maybe we should give one for not knowing our rights and duties of citizenship, as enumerated in the Constitution  We could even give him a hearing.

Thorough, Concise, and Catholic

We just completed “Infiltration”, by Dr. Taylor Marshall.  The area that we appreciated was the apparent weakness found in virtually all the Popes, from and including Pius XII to Francis, and the tangible evil propagated by the Freemasonic influences within the higher levels of the Church.
Taylor’s review of the dismally declining stats, of Kenneth C, Jone’s, “Index of Leading Catholic Indicators: the Church Since Vatican II”, allowed us to put numbers on what we have been living through.
Having also read, “Work of Human Hands” by sedevacantist Fr. Cekada, we feel Dr. Marshall’s work gives faithful Catholics a non-schismatic reference to understand the devastating harm done by the likes of Monsignor Bugnini.

Deliberate Ignorance Is Not a Virtue!

Many in today's Catholic world of church corruption, turn a blind eye to negative reports of whatever is happening.  I guess, if they are unaware, they think they can simply plead "ignorance"?  This logic may be acceptable, if the source is not trustworthy; that is one with a history of spreading disinformation.  But, if the source has a track record of honesty: not so., Not so!

This intentional ignorance has been addressed in James 1: 18,  "And let every man be swift to hear but slow to speak and slow to anger."  I, like most of the members of today's scandal ridden "Church of Nice", only read the last two phrases of this admonition.  They seem to have skipped over the the first, "and let every man be swift to hear,"  Catholic media outlets like Church Militant, Life Site News, Taylor Marshall, The Remnant, etc. have a long record of honest reporting.  These same outlets are often painted with an "unacceptable" brush by the establishment Church.  This has resulted in many Catholics who are unaware of how thoroughly corrupt the current Roman Catholic Church is:  Priests and Bishops in hiding for fear of their lives, Vatican deals that have thrown the Church in China under a totalitarian bus,  a homosexual current that has infected many aspects of seminary formation, a Pope that has been credibly accused of heresy, and now a Pope that has been proven to be a liar.

Many apparently believe it is virtuous to avoid these Catholic news sources, to maintain their comfort in the pews.  It is not virtuous to avoid knowing the truth.  St. James says, "be swift to hear".

Copulating With a Dead Chicken

Raising chickens for some forty-plus years has periodically reinforced my appreciation of human morals.  It started after allowing a hen to hatch-out a clutch of chicks.  The problem is: half are hens, and half are roosters.  As they mature, one rooster can normally service about a dozen hens, and a relationship of sort is formed.  So with too many roosters, each morning the hens stare at each other, to see whose turn it is, to be the first off of the roost, as the young cocks line-up to mate.  One quickly appreciates the difference with our human moral code.  This daily interplay becomes the impetuous to cull the flock, which has the added benefit of meat in the freezer.

I currently have two roosters.  The older cock, is a Rhode Island Red, services about 15 hens, and is a gentleman.  He eats only after the hens, keeps the peace amongst the hens, and keeps the younger rooster outside of the chicken run.  This younger rooster is the elder’s son, and he keeps a constant patrol, which also acts as a deterrent to keep the hens from flying-out, over the chicken-run fence.  The young rooster is walking the perimeter, hoping to chance upon a hen.

Just recently, I checked the feeder in the coop, and noticed one of my older hens had died, which occasionally happens.  I didn’t have time to dispose of her, so I threw the carcass out of the coup, onto the barn floor, to take care of the body later. The next day, I went into the barn to search for something, and I heard some commotion.  I looked over to see the young rooster attempting to mate with the dead chicken.  He seemed to be having a grand time, but I put a stop to this perversion immediately.  I couldn’t believe this bird; it disgusted me.  In this case though, falling back on my appreciation of human society's morals, doesn’t seem to hold water.

Think about it.  Our young males may not be copulating with the dead, but break-out the cock films, the porn, or some other dead image of another human being.  Is it any different?  Thankfully we have laws to protect our young women as they come off of their roosts and move amongst us.  But what affect does copulating with dead images have on our young males’ ability to relate to our young women, or even a mixed gender group of live people, with souls?

Returning to Tradition

Emmitsburg seems to have a significant number of Catholics, but you don’t have to be “Catholic”, to realize that there are serious problems within the “Bark of St. Peter”.  Just two years ago, the Baltimore market was shocked with the revelations in “The Keepers”, recently followed by the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report.  There now seems to be a developing cottage industry of alternative reporting programs focused on this problem, on Youtube and other platforms.  Programs such as TNT with Taylor Marshall, Michael Matt with the Remnant Underground, Life Site News, and Michael Voris with Church Militant refuse to just report on the Catholic world as the bishops may wish.  Church Militant’s “Vortex”, has focused on the almost daily exposures of rot, which they report is contributing to massive payouts to victims, parishes closing, drops in the numbers of ordinations, etc.

Many Catholics who have “red pilled” to this problem, are becoming as lost sheep:
some wandering off, while others searching for tradition, seeing modernization as one of the possible problems. “Modernization” was condemned by Pope Pius X, and has been chipping away at the Church of Rome since the early 1900’s.  Changes were being made in the years prior to Vatican II, and the years since then.  This attack is thoroughly explained in a book, “Work of Human Hands”, by Fr. Cekada.  The result has not only been a liturgy with: the priest facing the people, communion in the hand, trashing of statues, clapping in church, and an otherwise lessening of reverence, but the introduction of what some call weaponized ambiguity, that has affected doctrine.  Many have argued that changes in the prayers, also reflects changes in belief.  “As you pray, so as you believe.”  “Lex orandi, lex credendi”

As a young boy, some almost 60 years ago, I served at the altar for Latin Mass in my parish.   Looking for tradition has been a sort of coming home.  Even though the Extraordinary (Latin) form of the Mass had been all but eliminated, there are Chapels in the area, which offer the Holy “Sacrifice” of the Mass, in Latin.  Judging from the attendance, there seems to be larger numbers of faithful searching for this Traditional worship.

Some churches, that I am aware of, are: St. Alphonsus in downtown Baltimore, with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, St. Mary’s in Hagerstown, the new Carmelite Monastery in Fairfield, and the Seminary at the Mount has one on Monday mornings.  We prefer the Augustinian monks in Charles Town, West Virginia, at the Priory of the Canons Regular of New Jerusalem.  It is only about a 50-minute drive.  They have two Latin Masses everyday, and administer the sacraments according to the old rite.

Over the years, the Catholic Church has been the force defending the dignity of the individual, the importance of the family, and the primacy of our Trinitarian God.  Please pray for the Catholic Church: the good priests, good seminarians, and the Truth.  We will pray for you.

We Have Arrived: Third World

A dozen years ago, I had the opportunity to go to Calcutta, India on pilgrimage.  We prayed, experienced a third world culture, and performed some corporal acts of mercy.  My highlight was pulling a tooth on a woman in Mother Theresa’s House of the Dying.  One evening as we were walking back to our ten-foot wall-enclosed, guard dog protected, dormitory, we passed through an intersection, where over a hundred locals were gathered.  As we passed through, I heard several loud desperate shouts.  The crowd began to encircle one area, and an eerie hum filled the air.  We hesitated, and tried to see what the ruckus was about.  A young man holding a small club, stood above another man who had fallen.  Our guide pushed us away, the shouts weakened, and the crowd’s hum got louder, as they tightened-in on the event.  Our guide told me that the man on the ground would be beat to death.  Beat to death?  None of the hundred stand-arounders would help?  Any effective weapons for self-defense were prohibited?

This stuck with me, and I later asked, “Why we didn’t try to stop it?”  “We were out of our culture”, but it bothers me to this day.  I consoled myself with: this could not happen in our Christian world back home, someone would surely have a weapon, or Christian virtue to stop it, in a place like Frederick County, Maryland.

Last Friday, my nephew, Robbie was a patron at a bar on Rt. 15.  He somehow became involved in a disturbance and was taken outside, where reportedly ten members of a motorcycle gang beat him to death.  Reports of up to seventy-five witnesses gave statements.

Just two days later, a sixty-year old man, with no significant criminal record, was confronted at his front door by Anne Arundel County’s version of our police state.   They demanded his gun.  Gary Willis was mistaken; he thought he still lived in the constitutional United States of America.  Somebody had dropped a dime, and our legislature’s latest tweaking with the law, loaded-up.  He resisted.  The state executed him.

I was wrong: the crowd witnessed executions do occur here.  Robbie Swann and Gary Willis are dead, and I haven’t heard of any arrests.  We have arrived.  The hum, the silence, and the “yeas” in Annapolis, all have a similar tone.  And it ain’t, “Namaste!”

McCarrick: Scandal, upon Scandal, upon Scandal!

                                                              September 18th,  2003
Pope John Paul II:
Please Help!  Your church in the United States is in dire need of some stern fatherly discipline.
Last night, in Washington D.C., I and two dozen other pro-lifers participated in a demonstration against the scandal of Senator Ted Kennedy hosting a Catholic fundraiser.  While publicly claiming to be "Catholic", Senator Kennedy has a long record of supporting the abortion industry in the United States.  Many of our signs stated that he could not do both.  Other signs showed the corpse of an aborted child, and another signed asked, If the Senator continues this scandal, that you excommunicate him?
We had a wonderful priest in our group, Father Peter West.  He led us in prayer, and his presence was essential to our cause.  Many people were apparently blind to our concerns, as they walked past our signs dressed in tuxedos and evening gowns.  Their eyes looked through us, not acknowledging us, or our message.  Another priest entered the hotel through our pickets, and sped up as someone recognized him.  The worst scandal though, was when Cardinal McCarrick walked through our line, and excused his attendance at this fundraiser as not honoring Senator Kennedy.  He was just there for the schools financial gain.  Christ's words to the "blind fool" Pharisees. Matthew 23, spoke clearly to the Cardinal's position in this scandal.  "They tie up heavy burdens (hard to carry) and lay them on peoples shoulders, but they will not lift a finger to move them"
Toward the end of our picket, a blind man appeared, tapping his cane along the curb, and on the tire of a police car, parked next to our sidewalk position.  I asked the man, "Are you trying to get across the street?"  He replied, "This is where I usually get a cab,"  I looked up and saw a cab awaiting his turn to pull in, in front of the hotel, to drop off a fare.  I flagged the cab, and explained to the blind man, Ollie, that he would have to walk out into the street.  I guided Ollie, as he tapped his way around the police car inquiring, "Isn't this a cab?"
He was shocked when I told him, "No.  You had been tapping on a police car."
"O!"  He exclaimed.  "What's going on!"  I told him we were picketing a Catholic fundraiser where Senator Kennedy was being honored.  He turned into his seat and regretfully said, "I wish I had known.  I would like to have been with you."
Holy Father:  We have scandal upon scandal, the blind leading the blind, everybody's Catholic, but who is really Catholic?   We, the United States Church, need your fatherly discipline.  Help!

Scandalized,

Mike Hargadon

Letter from Sister Cathy Cesnik's sister, MARILYN CESNIK RADAKOVIC, to Archbishop Lori. (Reposted with her permission)

MARILYN CESNIK RADAKOVIC

June 6, 2017

Most Reverend William E. Lori
Archdiocese of Baltimore
320 Cathedral Street
Baltimore, Maryland  21201-4421

Re:    An Important Message from the Archbishop

Dear Archbishop Lori:

Reference is made to your correspondence dated May 17, 2017, entitled “An Important Message from the Archbishop,” as well as prior correspondence and circumstances involving Sister Catherine Cesnik, my biological sister.

I was disappointed by many of the statements you made in your correspondence.  Among the most troubling statements was the following:  “The Archdiocese first became aware of an allegation of abuse by Maskell, in 1992, more than 20 years after the abuse occurred.”  This statement was false, and known by the Archdiocese to be false, as Maskell was reassigned by the Archdiocese to Archbishop Keough High School in 1967 after allegations of child abuse were made by the mother of an altar boy at St. Clement Parish.

Also among the most troubling statements was the following:  “Maskell” was returned to ministry in 1993 after the Archdiocese was unable to corroborate the allegation of sexual abuse after its own investigation and conversations with attorneys representing the individual came forward.”  This statement was false, and known by the Archdiocese to be false, as the corroboration allegedly sought by the Archdiocese was within the possession, custody, and control of the Archdiocese at least since 1967.  In addition, more corroboration than the Archdiocese could have asked for or needed was right under the Archdiocese’s nose, in the form of Maskell’s harem, maintained at Archbishop Keough High School, without interference from, and without oversight of, the Archdiocese, since 1967.

Unfortunately, your correspondence represents a transparent attempt by the Archdiocese to “get in front of” the Netflix documentary series entitled “The Keepers,” which premiered on May 19, 2017.  Anyone who took the time to watch “The Keepers,” or who otherwise informed themselves as to the circumstances at Archbishop Keough High School, would easily be able to reach the conclusion that the Archdiocese was engaged in an anticipatory, disingenuous, public relations ploy.

Your correspondence was far too little, far too late.  The Archdiocese has no moral authority over the circumstances at Archbishop Keough High School involving Maskell’s  harem, or Sister Cathy.  The Archdiocese abdicated its moral authority when it reassigned Maskell to Archbishop Keough High School in 1967, and left him there, to run amok, unsupervised, to commit unspeakable, predatory, atrocities against the young girls left in his charge to guide and protect, until 1975.  Counselor, indeed.  Maskell’s counseling program was tantamount to an Archdiocese sponsored prostitution ring.

The Archdiocese was responsible for reassigning Maskell to Archbishop Keough High School in 1967, and the Archdiocese is responsible for the “cascade of horribles” that followed, including the “cascade of horribles” that happened to Maskell’s  harem, each and every one of them, as well as Sister Cathy, when she learned the unfortunate truth about the harem.  The fact that the Archdiocese was able to successfully hide behind its statute of limitations defense, and avoid civil liability, does nothing to diminish the Archdiocese’s moral liability.

I will not sit idly by while the Archdiocese belatedly attempts to use Sister Cathy, my biological sister who was beautiful in mind, body, and spirit to everyone who knew her, in its efforts to justify its inaction to prevent the “cascade of horribles,” and even its concealment and whitewashing of the “cascade of horribles.”  Please refrain from even mentioning Sister Cathy in any further correspondence promulgated by the Archdiocese, as it is offensive to her memory.

There is only one possible way for the Archdiocese to reclaim its moral authority over the circumstances at Archbishop Keough High School involving Maskell’s harem, or Sister Cathy.  Permit an unfettered audit of the Archdiocese’s complete investigative files, and the Archdiocese’s complete personnel files, for Maskell, including all assignments and evaluations, as well as any other complete relevant files, such that the audit may follow where the evidence truthfully leads.  Emphasis on “complete,” and on “where the evidence truthfully leads.”  This audit would be conducted by independent investigators, not associated with the Archdiocese or the City of Baltimore Police Department, but their findings would be made available to the Archdiocese and the City of Baltimore Police Department, upon the conclusion of the audit. So much sorrow has transpired and damage to beautiful children. I cannot sit idly by.  For whatever reason this has landed on your watch. I beseech you to find the courage to do the right thing. Do not take the easy path here and hide behind a false cover of religion.

This is your moment in time. Find the courage to not stand beside Maskell and continue to protect him but to reveal the truth. I believe you are a courageous man of God and will find the courage to permit the unfettered audit.

                            Sincerely,

                            MARILYN CESNIK RADAKOVIC

Pray Dreaming

One of the hardest aspects of developing a deeper prayer life is controlling the tendency of one’s wandering thoughts.  It is very similar to day dreaming.  Your mind begins to think about other things, as you are trying to grow deeper in prayer.  It can be a serious distraction in concentration, and meditation.

So, I attended Mass last Honesty Sunday.  Father Vinnie Boom-batz finished the readings, and began to address the congregation in his homily.

“We, the Church, have failed you from the pulpit!  Rather than giving you pop-culture antidotes on the latest crises du jour, we should have been giving you truth, and sticking to the scriptures.  We should have warned you not to trust the government, but instead we form our weekly messages around their agenda.
  • The Pentagon spends billions of dollars to create propaganda films to sell an agenda, and we priests have been wrong for giving these messages credibility by including them in our homilies.  Our government cannot be trusted.
  • There were no weapons of Mass Destruction, yet we invaded Iraq, resulting in anarchy, the deaths of hundreds of thousands, and the destruction of a culture.  We have yet to give a homily discussing the evil that sprouts when we blindly believe and act on lies that our government spreads.
  • 9-11 was unbelievable, especially in light of the glaring inconsistencies such as Building 7, but the Church has been silent.  God gave us common sense and a mission to speak the Truth, who is not  just a something, but a someone, “Christ”  We have failed.
  • We should have been warning families not to encourage their sons and daughters to put their lives at risk for our corporate empire?”  Instead we sing patriotic songs in church, and clap for veterans, on the 4th of July and Memorial Day.”

“We should also have warned you to not trust us, the Church either, especially when we speak from a defensive position.  When our Church needs to consult attorneys rather than the Word of God, before making statements, be on guard.  When I, or any other priest, give a homily based on this week’s headline news, ignore the message.”

“Our news media, our government, and our Church, cannot be trusted.  To preach on events or statements promoted by these, only scandalizes the Word.  Trust only in Jesus Christ.”

Then, I woke up.

Dr. McHugh:

Good mourning!  It’s only four o’clock, and I can’t get back to sleep.  Ever since my wife and I watched the documentary, “The Keepers”, I have been waking-up before dawn.

We were grateful to see that the producers included your input into this tragedy.  I am one of Jane Doe’s brothers, and have been painfully aware of your effect on her ability to have her day in court, for about twenty-five years.

Your apparent association with the Archdiocese of Baltimore, is but one of many disturbing facts in this case.  If retained memories are not possible, how do you explain all of these victims, and the crime detail, that has surfaced?  I encourage you to check-out “The Keepers”.  You might put it on your professional to-do list, because Dr. Sipes seemed to have a pretty good handle on the subject.  The one consistent trait that seems to emerge in those people who either covered-up these crimes, or otherwise allowed this injustice to go on, is arrogance.

Quite frankly, I am surprised  that John’s Hopkins is maintaining your position as Professor of Psychiatry.  I am awake, but it could be worse.  If I had provided such a pivotal opinion on stifling these victims, I personally would have a difficult time even getting to sleep in the first place.

Awake,

Want a Boat?

Bishop Malooly:

My wife and I viewed the documentary, "The Keepers" this weekend.  We were probably more familiar with its production than most people in Maryland because I am one of Jane Doe, Jean Hargadon Wehner's brothers.  Over the years I have attempted to make direct and indirect contact with the Archdiocese of Baltimore, concerning my sister and my parents treatment by the Church.  My first attempt was during the early nineties in which I begged Cardinal Keeler to call my mother, who rightfully felt abandoned.  Her life was anchored in the Church.  It ended when her pastor, Father Paschal Morlino OSB was told by the chancellery, "to stay out of it", when he attempted to get answers for her.  She was devastated and never attended Mass there again.  I never got a response to my letter, and the Cardinal did not call her.

The second attempt was through Father Edward J. Bayer while Pastor of Holy Family Church.  In his letter of July 1998 to Keeler, he summarizes the destruction of the faith in my family, as a result of the treatment, and lack of personal attempts by the church to find closure.  In his letter, Father Bayer stated, "Maskell may be out of sight and sound in Ireland, but this family is not."  He tried to warn the Cardinal.  The Church should have learned.

Now we find in the 7th episode of "The Keepers", that Maskell had been moved to Keough because of charges of sexual molestation at St. Clements.  As if this is not bad enough, the director of the film produces Archdiocesan answers to his questions, which directly contradict Dr. Charles Franz's childhood abuse report.  Someone is lying.  Additionally, Franz places you and two canon lawyers in his dentist office.  He states that you offered him a boat.  Wow!  I and Father Bayer should have wrote you.  Maybe we both could have had boats?  The Church's lack of compassion, and non-existent love for the Truth, who is Jesus Christ, is making it harder and harder to be Catholic.

I am glad that my wife and I changed rites, years back.  When we do attend the Latin rite, we travel to another diocese to avoid contributing to your former boat fund.  I pray that Archbishop Lori’s diocese comes clean, before it loses all its members, along with its credibility.  You though, if what Dr. Franz states is true, should seriously consider packing your bags, because you are unfit to shepherd the Church of Christ.

Sincerely,

Michael T. Hargadon DDS

This Family Is Not

Your Eminence:

My wife and I viewed the documentary, "The Keepers" this weekend.  We were probably more familiar with its production than most people in Maryland because I am one of Jane Doe, Jean Hargadon Wehner's brothers.  Over the years I have attempted to make direct and indirect contact with the Archdiocese concerning my sister and my parents treatment by the Church.

Now we find in the 7th episode of "The Keepers", that Maskell had been moved to Keough because of charges of sexual molestation at St. Clements.  As if this is not bad enough, the director of the film produces Archdiocesan answers to his questions, which directly contradict Dr. Charles Frantz's childhood abuse report.  Someone is lying. Additionally, Frantz describes how Bishop Malooly came to his dentist office, and offered him a boat.  Really?  The Church's lack of compassion, and non-existent love for the Truth, who is Jesus Christ, is making it harder and harder to be Catholic.

We changed rites years back, and when we attend the Latin rite, we travel to another diocese to avoid contributing to this mess.  I pray that you come clean before you lose all your members, along with your credibility.

Sincerely
