Sheriff Mack Event

I am going to use this blog to help sort out this upcoming event with Sheriff Mack. I attended a Save A Patriot (SAP) meeting tonight and presented my proposal, which developed due to:
1. George Otto has approached me several times discussing the importance of the "sheriff" in our order of protection.
2. Mike Peroutka gave a great lesson at a First Friday in which he described "interposition". The state is to interpose between the federal government and the people, and the sheriff is to interpose between the state and the people.
3. Several months ago George wondered why we couldn't get someone like Sheriff Mack to come to SAP.
4. John Kotmair has discussed the need to shed the wacko tax protester brand that SAP has. It keeps people from coming to the hall and John has been passed over in at least one hearing.
5. John wanted to get a meeting of many of the liberty groups to introduce SAP and pitch the radio program.

After the approval of the idea tonight, we are set to make some plans. As soon as his wife, Dawn, instructs me as to how to buy the Southwest ticket for him, we should be good for Monday, the 29th. She said he can speak for one and a half to two hours. He doesn't like questions because it often ends up with people getting on their own soapbox. He will however hang around and answer individual questions. We could start at 6:30 with invocation, pledge, introductions, welcome from John Kotmair and then the Sheriff. The Sheriff would actually be from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A few issues that have come up are: larger venue, invite sheriffs, charge for a ticket?
1. Unless there is an avalanche of interest, I would keep the event in the SAP hall for reasons covered in #4 and # 5 above. Sheriff Mack has spoke before 20 to 1500, so he'll be fine. Moving it somewhere else will cost more and not serve to bring people to SAP. It would probably be better if SAP were full than getting a big hall and only filling it half way. Some at the meeting seemed to think the hall would hold 60 - 80 but I would bet it will hold 100- 120. John K. suggested I keep Deborah informed, so she might be a good Chairman for the Hall needs and set-up.
2. Inviting some sheriffs from the local counties would be appropriate as long as it is done very professionally and respectfully. I would like to get a Chairman for the Sheriffs Committee to do up a nice invite and research names of sheriffs who we might invite.
3. Charging for the ticket makes sense, to account for the attendance, and controlling ticket dispersal (say, $10.00). The group in Pennsylvania where Sheriff Mack is going after our talk, is charging for a ticket. If SAP sponsors the event but CP, RLC, C4L or other groups would like to co-sponsor, we could ask for a donation of $100.00, and they could be given 10, $10.00 tickets, to give to their members, sell, or whatever they wish. We could compliment attending sheriffs a free ticket. We could hold tickets to get the money, and assure the seat will be taken. We can always comp the tickets if the sales are slow as the date approaches. The event will probably cost between $1100.00 and $1300.00 if we keep it simple at SAP Hall.

Lastly, there should be a Hospitality Committee. The Sheriff needs to be picked-up from BWI on Monday and brought into the area. We will need to either pay for a room or have someone host him for at least Monday night. His next event is in Pennsylvania on the 31st, and the organizer has offered to come down and meet half way.

Mike,
I would love to put Sheriff Mack up at my house. I have had the Patriot Pastor Garrett Lear to my home for a Few events in the past. He always enjoyed his stay as I fed him well and enjoyed his company. I am sure Sheriff Mack and the Pastor know one another and Garrett could be contacted as a reference. I can call Sheriff Mack if need be.
Thanks for all you are doing!!
Yours for Liberty under Law,
George
